Lorenzo Musetti, world number 30, è qualified for the semifinals of the ATP 250 on the German grass in Stuttgart thanks to the withdrawal of Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik, number 17, at 1-0 in the third set in favor of the Italian after almost an hour and 20 minutes of play.

The 22-year-old from Carrara saves a break point in the first game of the match but at 3-3 has to give up the serve at the second chance to his opponent who then maintains the lead and closes the partial set at 6-4.

The second set è dominated by Lorenzo, who makes the break in the second game, saves a counterbreak ball on 3-1 then winning another game on Bublik’s serve and closing the partial 6-1.

After also being broken in the first game of the third set Bublik, who had evidently been dragging behind a physical problem for a while, threw in the towel. Now for Musetti in the semifinals there will be an all-Italian derby with Matteo Berrettini, a two-time winner in Stuttgart.
