Jannik Sinner also wins in doubles, showing excellent form. After his debut victory as world No. 1 against Tallon Griekspoor at the singles tournament in Halle, the tennis player from Innichen also debuted in the doubles tournament paired with his friend Hubert Hurkacz, another top ten Atp ranked player.

The two managed to beat the tight U.S. doubles team consisting of Lammons and Withrow, the No. 3 seed, folded in three sets with scores of 6-4 5-7 11-9. In the next round Sinner and Hurkacz will face Frenchmen Reboul and Doumbia.

During the match Sinner put in some resounding points, including a diagonal forehand that sparked the spectators'ovation and amazed Hurkacz himself.

After the match the Pole confessed: "Here is world number 1 Jannik Sinner. Thank you Jannik that you decided to play doubles with me. To the fans I say, help us find a name for our doubles team", he joked.
