"Tonight we witnessed something really special,” Roberto Martinez remarked in the post-match interviews in the mixed zone. “A star player like Cristiano Ronaldo, who found himself in front of the goalkeeper, instead of looking for a goal served a better placed teammate. This represents a great example. I hope his action will be shown in all soccer schools in Portugal".

Another Portugal veteran praised by Roberto Martinez è Pepe: "Those who do not know him and see him on the field could never think that he is 41 years of age. We are talking about a well-rounded professional, also è a great example for Portugal. He trains hard every day, and every year he works to be able to play at a high level again the next year".

Regarding the performance against Turkey, however, Roberto Martinez said: "Our performance è was similar to the one offered against the Czech Republic. The only difference stems from the fact that, this time, we scored first. And it wasnè t easy, because we faced a team full of great talent. That is why we were particularly good".
