Interviewed by the official website of the ATP, Dominic Thiem, who confirmed in early May that this will be his last season, spoke about the legacy he would like to leave to the younger generation: "The biggest hope is that many children, especially in Austria where I am obviously better known, start playing tennis to become like me. I also hope that people remember me as a good person, that people have enjoyed my game over the years".
È clear who the stars of the new generation of tennis are: "Now there are two great guys, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. They are incredible and play great tennis. I love watching them and all the fans like them, so tennis è in very good hands".
Dominic Thiem è then went back to talk about his retirement: "I had a fantastic career, I always put a lot of passion into it and gave it my all, but now that I have announced my retirement I am very happy becauseé è a relief for me in terms of stress. I am looking forward to playing my last tournaments, but also to do everything that will come after that. I am trying to enjoy my last months as much as possible. È a very exciting year, I would say, becauseé Diego Schwartzman and I have announced our retirement, Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray are coming to the end and è very exciting to see all this change in the circuit".
