Euro 2024: ahead are Romania, Belgium and Slovakia. Eliminated the Ukraine

The final verdicts of Euro 2024 Group E arrive: the last two matches of the group end in a draw and do not change the standings, all 4 teams finish with 4 points. Romania draws with Slovakia and passes as first in the standings by virtue of favorable goal difference. Also in the round of 16 are Belgium and the same Slovaks, while è eliminated is Ukraine, whose 0-0 draw against Belgium is not enough.

Ukraine-Belgium 0-0

Balanced first half, where tension dominates given what is at stake. There are few goal chances created by the two teams during the first 45'. Lukaku has a chance early on but misses in front of Trubin, Ukraine has an important chance before halftime with Yaremchuk, who sins of generosity; passing to Dovbyk instead of shooting on goal.

Second half, Belgium creates two goal balls but Lukaku è late on Doku’s cross and shortly after wastes an assist from De Bruyne. The minutes pass and the tension rises, Ukraine considering the result of the other match has to score by necessity and rushes forward: Malinovskyi comes close to taking the lead, his shot is rejected by Casteels on the goal line, shortly after Sudakov è very dangerous, but wastes his great personal action by kicking weakly into Casteels’ arms. Thus goes out the last hope for Ukraine, the only eliminated from Group E.

Slovakia-Romania 1-1
24' Duda (S), 37' Marin (R)

Balanced first half, at 20' Duda brings Slovakia ahead on Pekarik’s cross. Romania retaliates at 37' with Razvan Marin, scoring on a penalty kick awarded for a foul by Hancko.  Second half, Slovakia has the ball of the game in its hand but the maneuver è slow: the simultaneous draw in the other match of the group allows both teams to qualify and neither risks: at the triple whistle jubilation for both selections.
