Ferrari, Carlos Sainz goes down flat: “Me fifth? That’s our value.”
He didn’t have the mate’s problems, but the disappointment remains.
Carlos Sainz fifth at the end of sprint qualifying at the Austrian Grand Prix, in which teammate Charles Leclerc è even finished tenth due to the shutdown of his Ferrari in the decisive phase of SQ3. The feeling of a generally opaque Rossa remains, and on the point the Spaniard did not è hide.
"My qualifying was decent, as I managed to do three laps all very clean. Unfortunately forò we noticed already from free practice that we have some problems with the tires – explained Sainz to 'Sky Sport' -. In particular with the softs we are moreù weak compared to how we perform with the medium and hard".
The confirmation comes with the drop in Ferrari performance between the first two sprint qualifying heats and the last one. "We dropped from a possible top 3 to fifth place overall,” Sainz noted.
The fact è that the situation è the same as in free practice, in which we were sixth. Surely we have to analyze the situation, because right now this è the position in which moreù or less we are".
However, Sainz hopes to improve the situation in the continuation of the Spielberg weekend. "I’m counting on making a few steps forward, as I start from fifth position and therefore on the clean side of the track. We want to collect as many points as possible tomorrow, and do better in the other qualifying that there will be on Saturday", concluded Sainz.
