Euro 2024, Embolo and Rieder in chorus: ‘Italy beaten with merit’

Switzerland in the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 after a clear victory against Italy. It was a 2-0 no-strike victory that inevitably unleashed the enthusiasm of the Swiss players starting with Fabian Rieder and Breel-Donald Embolo, both of whom are firmly convinced that the victory is well-deserved and achieved against a fearsome opponent in any case.

"I feel happy and proud, we beat Italy and we did it deservedly,” Embolo told the official Uefa website. “We were facing a team that is always difficult to beat, and we took the field with great compactness. We created chances and scored at the right time. Ours è was really a great game, I am proud for all of Switzerland".

Also with the Uefa website, Rieder spoke: "Our performance è was really good, and the feeling we get from beating Italy è absolutely fantastic. From the first second of the game we showed that we wanted to win it".

Rieder then praised the most important aspects of Switzerland: the attitude on the court. " We play with an incredible spirit. Everyone is happy and running for their teammates. This è our way of playing and I think on the field we have shown it", concluded the Swiss midfielder.
