Switzerland-Italy: the probable formations

The program of the Euro 2024 round of 16 in Germany opens with the challenge between Switzerland and Italy. Kickoff at 6 p.m. at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The Swiss finished second in Group A, behind Germany, while the Azzurri finished second in Group B, behind Spain. Up for grabs is access to the quarterfinals with the winner of the match between England and Slovakia.

Yakin must do without Widmer, who is disqualified: in his place will be Stergiou on the right flank with Aebischer on the opposite lane. Confirmation for Embolo in attack, with Ndoye and Vargas in support. Akanji will lead the defense, with Schar and Rodriguez on his sides. Between the posts Sommer.

Spalletti cannot count on Calafiori, out due to disqualification, in defense: room for Mancini, paired with Bastoni, with Di Lorenzo and Darmian at fullback. The midfield also changes with Fagioli in the box, assisted by Barella and Cristante. Scamacca will be the offensive reference, with Chiesa and El Shaarawy on either side of him.

Probable lineups

SWITZERLAND (3-4-2-1): Sommer; Schar, Akanji, Rodriguez; Stergiou, Freuler, Xhaka, Aebischer; Ndoye, Vargas; Embolo. CT Yakin

ITALY (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Mancini, Bastoni, Darmian; Barella, Fagioli, Cristante; Chiesa, Scamacca, El Shaarawy. CT Spalletti
