Sport climbing è a contemporary discipline that has seen tremendous growth in popularity over the past two decades. The sport, characterized by a young and mixed user base, with 39 percent of climbers being under the age of eighteen.

In Paris, all eyes will be on and many hopes pinned on Matteo Zurloni: the class of 2002 from Segrate (Milan) è the current world champion in the speed climbing discipline and was the second Italian ever to win the world title in this specialty, after Ludovico Fossali.

Matteo started practicing the discipline when he was just 5 years old pushed by his dad and holds the European record with a time of 5.023 seconds and the Italian record with a time of 4.95 seconds, although the latter is not recognized at the continental level since it was not achieved in an international competition.

Sport climbing is practiced both outdoors and in closed urban environments. Currently, there are more than 25 million climbers in 150 countries around the world. Zurloni, a second-year exercise science student and a fan of Marvel movies and Stephen King novels, è ready to write history in Paris 2024.
