Paris 2024 Olympics, Italians to medal: Filippo Ganna
Paris Olympics: Azzurri to medal
Filippo Ganna was born in Verbania on July 25, 1996, and first rode a bicycle at a very young age when his father Marco, who participated in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games in canoeing, organized a cyclocross race near home. From that moment, his passion for cycling never left him again, alternating between track and road.
In 2016, in London, the Piedmontese stuns the world by winning the world title in the individual pursuit at only nineteen years old. He repeated the feat in 2018, 2019 and 2020, also participating steadily in the team quartet. Filippo è a complete athlete and in his young career he also stands out on the road.
In 2019 he won bronze in the world championship time trial, qualifying for the Olympic race, and the following year he won the rainbow gold. È has always been fascinated by the great classics of the North, especially Paris-Roubaix, which he has already won among the under-23s.
In 2021 'Top Ganna' realizes the biggest dream by leading the Italian pursuit quartet to the top step of the podium at the Tokyo Olympic Games and the Roubaix World Championships, also confirming gold in the road time trial. In Paris he will live his third Olympic experience with an ambitious goal: to be on the podium both on the road and on the track.
