At age 81 è Kurt Bendlin, former multipler and winner of an Olympic medal in the decathlon at the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games, has died. Bendlin è passed away in Paderborn. He leaves behind two children and his wife.
During his career, which lasted until 1976, Bendlin won a total of four German championship titles. After retiring, he devoted himself to various social activities and in his final years had retired to a farm in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia.
His career è was marked by numerous injuries: he underwent 14 operations while active. "My problem was that my strength was greater than the strength of my bones and joints" he had said a few years ago.
