F1, Ferrari: Frederic Vasseur sends message to rival teams
Frederic Vasseur è confident ahead of Singapore
Recovering from a bittersweet Azerbaijan GP, with Charles Leclerc’s second place (who started from pole) being countered by Carlos Sainz’s retirement due to an accident with Sergio Perez, Ferrari è is now projected to the upcoming race weekend, which will culminate with the night-time Singapore GP on Sunday, September 22.
"The’outcome of the last race was not what we had hoped for,” said Frederic Vasseur, team principal of the Cavallino, “which in sé says foré that our level of competitiveness is very high, especially in the current Formula 1 environment, where there’s little performance difference between the four top teams. We want to continue on this path in Singapore, another very challenging street circuit".
Last year’s winner è was Sainz, who was able to break Red Bull’s streak of 15 consecutive wins between 2022 and 2023. "Both of our drivers like racing here, and indeed one of them won just last year,” explained Vasseur, who thus evoked the sweet memories of last year. “We would like to repeat the feat this weekend by continuing to work well as a team, as we did in the last few races".
"The last two Sundays have shown us how important tire management is, and having the three softer compounds available again, after Monza and Baku, we should have a better understanding of their behavior, although then every track è different. Of course, qualifying è is very important here as well and we are prepared to deal with it in the best possible way, so I am sure we can put our opponents" then concluded the French engineer, thus sending a message towards the rival teams.
