Goodbye to Salvatore Lo Presti

The world of Italian journalism è is mourning the passing of Salvatore Lo Presti. Known to all as Toto, originally from Sicily but a Turin native by adoption, Lo Presti traveled the world thanks to his great passion for sports, particularly soccer.

Born in Marsala on Feb. 16, 1940, he has won generations of readers with his articles published in major Italian newspapers, including Tuttosport, Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport.

For many years è he was the signature reference on the ‘Rosea’ regarding Juventus, and then devoted himself to numerous publications, in particular the ‘Almanac of World Soccer, a real handbook for football lovers.

"Finest pen, sublime storyteller, competent on a technical level like few. Totò was a reference and a master, humble, helpful, polite, humorous, but impeccable when he had to examine technique and tactics of a team, a champion, a coach. He traveled the world and chronicled world soccer from the small fields of Sicily to the exploits of Maradona, Pelè and Ronaldo. He set an unsurpassed record writing for four different sports newspapers: Stadio, Corriere dello Sport, Tuttosport and Gazzetta dello Sport serving the reader first" the memory of the Ussi Subalpina.
