Leonardo Bonucci explains why he chose Milan
Leonardo Bonucci explains his move to AC Milan
Leonardo Bonucci, a guest on Sky Calcio Club, revealed more than one market backstory, starting with his farewell to Juventus to move to AC Milan in the summer of 2017: "I went to AC Milan because there had been the famous rift with Allegri. I still wanted to stay close to home because of the well-known events that there'd been about my son. I didn't feel like going abroad becauseé when you change è it's always a question mark. I went to Milan becauseé a new cycle was starting anyway. With many purchases: 12 were made by Mirabelli and Fassone".
The adventure in the Rossoneri lasted only a year: "At the end of the year, when è the whole bank blew up, they told me 'here there's no more room for you'. So I said if I have to leave, get out of this cycle here, I want to go back to Juventus. These dynamics got stuck, but the choice è it was becauseé however it had been created internally, between me, the coach and the company, an energy that was no longer flowing as it was supposed to flow".
"Allegri had renewed after the Champions final – added the former defender -. The companyè è one and decides and so in that case we all agreed that the roads could not continue becauseé it would have been not bad foré however it would have been difficult to put everything back together without moving away. When we got closer again we were better off than before
Finally, Bonucci revealed a market backstory: "Did Guardiola seek you out? Then I am a fair and honest one…. Both in 2016 and in 2017, when I went to Milan. Obviously in 2016 it didn't materialize for one reason: because Juve would never sell me and I was doing well at that time at Juve. In 2017 Montella, Mirabelli had called me and told me 'You have to come here, you will become team captain'. I didn't want to go outside Italy, in those days, when I had anyway given an ok in principle to Milan I was called by both Psg and Manchester City forò I am like that, the word è that and I didn't feel like it. Had they also made the economic proposal? Sì…".
