The GrandPiedmont è by Neilson Powless
Neilson Powless won the 108th edition of the GranPiemonte presented by Crédit Agricole, 182 km long from Valdengo to Borgomanero. The EF Education-EasyPost rider crossed the finish line ahead of New Zealander Corbin Strong (Israel – PremierTech) and Spaniard Alex Aranburu (Movistar Team).
"I’m excited, è a wonderful feeling I haven’t had in a long time – admitted the American to the official RCS Sport channels after the race – Every rider works and lives for days like this. Today è everything went right".
"I ran on pure instinct in the last 60 km, it was what I had to do becauseè Lidl-Trek was outnumbered. When I attacked I didn’t know my lead so I kept turning around. I decided to force uphill by going more regular on the flat sections. I hope I can recover and do a great Il Lombardia on Saturday" Powless concluded.
Among the Azzurri, the best è Filippo Magni (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè) who finished fourth, seven seconds behind the American champion.
