After their triumph at the Beijing ATP 500, Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori, did not repeat in the Shanghai Masters 1000. The Italian pair, in fact, è was eliminated by Argentines Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni, who won with a double 6-4 after an hour and a quarter of play.

The Italian duo got off to a bad start, giving up the serve in the opening game. The South American pair confirmed the lead (2-0), saving a ball of the immediate counter-break. Gonzalez/Molteni also saved in the fourth game, preserving the break lead until the final 6-4.

In the second partial, the script è identical: the Argentines take away Bolelli/Vavassori’s serve again in the first game. The South American duo conceded crumbs on serve, the Azzurri saved three consecutive match points at 4-5 but had to surrender in the next game.

Bolelli and Vavassori must thus bid farewell to the 'Rolex Shanghai Masters' but they can still console themselves. Indeed, the Azzurri have achieved arithmetic qualification to the ATP Finals in Turin, scheduled for Nov. 10-17 at the Inalpi Arena.
