Marco Bezzecchi and Maverick Viñales, fear and relief: ruinous accident at Phillip Island
The wind causes a big scare, fortunately without serious consequences.
MotoGP with bated breath at Phillip Island for Marco Bezzecchi and Maverick Viñales. The two were involved in a frightening accident during the Sprint Race in Australia: with three laps to go, in fact, they hooked up on the main straight, tumbling ruinously into the escape route. The physical condition of both, fortunately, is not a cause for concern.
Clear, in retrospect, the dynamics: Viñales, in the first halfà of the long and very fast straight, è managed to get in front of Bezzecchi gaining the fifth position. The Romagnolo then gained his slipstream, ending up però sucked in also because of the strong wind that was blowing over Phillip Island. Ciò prevented him from braking properly, ending up blamelessly on the bike of his colleague.
Viñales, initially furious and then calmed down once he realized what had happened, suffered a bruised elbow. Major, at least initially, the apprehension for Bezzecchi remained for a few very long seconds stationary on the gravel after the heavy contact and the subsequent tumble. He later reached on his legs the stretcher and è was transported to Melbourne for a precautionary CT scan.
"I saw the accident, really è it was very bad. But here at Phillip Island if you brake in Turn 1 and you get in front of a rider on your line you really get sucked in. The dynamics è was horrible, I hope Bezzecchi is okay and can race tomorrow", commented Pecco Bagnaia to the microphones of 'Sky Sport'.
