Parma fails to overtake: it’s 1-1 with Empoli

Sunday’s ninth day of Serie A opened with a draw between Parma and Empoli. At ‘Tardini’ the Azzurri took the lead thanks to an own goal in the first half by Woyo Coulibaly, but in the resumption they were taken back by the Crociati through Charpentier. In the final Bonny squanders the penalty of the possible 2-1.

The first ringing è of the Gialloblù brand: Man serves Bonny in the center of the area who kicks first but his shot è too central and Vasquez pushes it away. At 34’ Empoli, at the first real chance, takes the lead: Colombo’s great filter for Gyasi who puts it in the middle for Fazzini, who goes sliding and beats Suzuki but the last unfortunate touch è of Coulibaly.

In the resumption Azzurri immediately dangerous with a shot from outside the area by Anjorin. On 61’ the hosts answered with a nice Bernabé free kick from the edge but Vasquez stretched and deflected for a corner. With 10’ to go, newcomer Charpentier evened the score with a low right-footed shot from inside the area on Valeri’s cross from the left. A minute later the Ducals could turn it around: Almqvist earned a penalty kick but Bonny kicked it over the crossbar.

With this draw Parma and Empoli rise to 8 and 11 points in the standings, respectively. The Ducali temporarily move up to 16th place, while the Tuscans temporarily climb to 10th place.
