Andrea Iannone returns to MotoGP: “Crazy challenge”
Andrea Iannone returns to MotoGP
Andrea Iannone is returning to MotoGP. The centaur from Abruzzo, in fact, will replace, riding the Ducati Desmosedici GP of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, Fabio Di Giannantonio (who will undergo surgery on his left shoulder this week) at the Malaysian GP being raced this weekend at Sepang International Circuit.
The positive first season in Superbike combined with Andrea's excellent relationship with Valentino Rossi, the whole team from Tavullia and the Borgo Panigale factory made the choice to fall on him. One victory in MotoGP in 2016 with Ducati and 11 podiums in the premier class for rider number 29 who ended the season in SBK with 231 points, eighth overall and one victory (Aragon Round ed.).
"Riding the world champion bike è exciting – admitted Iannone to the official channels of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team -. MotoGP è the most technological and high performance bike, I am honored that they thought of me and I felt to immediately seize this opportunityè as soon as it was offered to me".
"The challenge è definitely crazy, complex and important, not having ridden a bike in this category for years and without having tested. I am thrilled to be able to work with Ducati and the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, both for the’very high level and for the’friendship that has linked us for years. I would like to thank Valentino Rossi, Alessio Salucci, Pablo Nieto, Gigi Dall’Igna, Claudio Domenicali and Mauro Grassilli".
