Ski World Cup comes to North America

The Alpine Ski World Cup arrives on North American snows, with three weekends dedicated to women’s races and one that will also feature three men’s races. It begins on Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1°, on the Superstar slope in Killington, in the U.S. state of Vermont, with the women’s giant slalom and special slalom, with numerous Italian athletes at the start.

Great expectations, and it could not be otherwise, for Federica Brignone, who was able to win the only giant slalom she has competed in so far, the one that opened the season last October 26 in Solden, Austria. There will be seven other athletes competing: Marta Bassino, Roberta Melesi, Asja Zenere, Elisa Platino, Ilaria Ghisalberti, Lara Della Mea and Giorgia Collomb.

Of these, only Della Mea and Collomb will also take part in the race in the discipline between the narrow poles: in fact, with them will be Marta Rossetti, Martina Peterlini and Beatrice Sola, in a race in which, however, all the attentions of fans will be turned to the American Mikaela Shiffrin, in search of her victory number 100 in the CdM.

Instead, Sofia Goggia&#39s preparation continues two time zones away, in Colorado, ahead of her highly anticipated return to competition after the serious injury that prevented her from completing last season. The date è for the Beaver Creek races, with the downhill scheduled for December 14 and the Super-G scheduled for twenty-four hours later.
