Men’s National Alpine Ski Team files nightmare weekend at home

It certainly didn&#39t turn out to be a weekend to remember the last weekend of 2023 for the men's National Alpine Ski Team. In the Super-G in Bormio, won by Marco Odermatt ahead of Raphael Haaser and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, there's no sign of the Italians in the positions that count, partly because of a series of circumstances that were anything but fortunate for the Italian athletes.

Dominik Paris and Mattia Casse, two of the most eagerly awaited athletes, were forced to retire due to missing the attachment of a ski and skipping a gate, respectively. A nasty fall, on the other hand, ousted Christoph Innerhofer from the games: the veteran Italian è ended up against the safety nets and è was taken to Sondalo hospital for checks that showed a cut on his calf.

"I è opened an attack,” Paris told the official channels of the Italian Winter Sports Federation. “I knew the skis were banging but I still wanted to push. Now I try to prepare well for January, which will be a very important month". "It bothers me to be out,” added Casse, “itè never easy to face a Super-G like that, itè difficult to find the right set-up and when there are too many unknowns it happens to make mistakes. January will be’another page, with different tracks".

In the points zone, as far as the Italians are concerned, therefore, only Pietro Zazzi was seen, who finished with the 29th time more than three seconds behind Odermatt, while Giovanni Franzoni (31st), Guglielmo Bosca (34th), Florian Schieder (36th), Nicolò Molteni (37th) and Giovanni Borsotti (44th) did not collect a single point valid for the World Cup ranking in Friday’s race.
