Russia mourns its two champions who died in plane crash

A plane crash in Washington, U.S., has led to the deaths of more than 60 people. Aboard the plane that collided with a helicopter and crashed were traveling world pairs figure skating champions, Russians Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.

TASS news agency reported statements from a federal source that "our coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were among the passengers on the plane involved in the crash".

According to official information, there were 60 passengers and four crew members on the plane. Currently, rescue teams are conducting search operations at the crash site. Some media, although awaiting official confirmation, report the discovery of 19 bodies.

Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov won the world figure skating title in 1994. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville they had finished in fifth place, while at the 1994 Lillehammer Games they reached fourth place.
