The words of Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz spoke at a press conference after winning the Rotterdam 2025 ATP 500: "Every tournament you win is special, but the first indoor one is even more so. And I saw that I can play good tennis on these courts too. It è time to get to be among the best at playing indoor, but I have to fix some things I am working on. One of them è the serve, everyone knows that. I’m not ashamed to say that there are players with great serve and great groundstrokes who are very dangerous, but I’m sure he’ll reach that level".

"I had some small lapses, but I think the most important thing was to stay strong mentally, to stay focused throughout the match even though I lost the second set. The final è always very difficult becauseé you have to handle the pressure, but I think I played pretty well today. I was focused, I knew what I had to do from the’beginning. Forò even the first round with Van de Zandschulp è was pretty tough".

“Sometimes I have doubts about what I should do. Feelings can change during the match. For example, today I felt great in the first and second set, even though I lost it. But in the first set I felt a little bit uncomfortable playing aggressively. That’s why I was a little bit stiff. However, I feel that I always made the right choices".

Comment on Jannik Sinner's absence: "If I è missed him? Um, not really… (laughs, ed.). Could it have been a great final? Yes,è è it was. He still had his reasons for giving up, I understand that. I think having him here as well would have been great for the tournament, forò I’m holding the trophy and I won’t sayò that I è missed".
