Biathlon, Tommaso Giacomel on the podium again in Nove Mesto

Tommaso Giacomel excellent second in the sprint
It ends with an excellent second place in Tommaso Giacomel’s sprint in Nove Mesto na Morave, a locality in the Czech Republic hosting this week’s 2024-2025 Biathlon World Cup events. In the men’s 10 km sprint, staged Thursday, the Yellow Flames athlete took the middle step of the podium, behind only Emilien Jacquelin.
The Frenchman completed the event in 23'13"3, without committing any shooting errors, ahead by 19"8 of his own Giacomel, who instead made a mistake in the first of the two sets of throws. Rounding out today's podium was Norway's Johannes Thingnes Boe, who was penalized by one more error on the shot than the Italian, who came ahead of him by 1"1.
For Tommaso Giacomel è it was the fourth World Cup podium this season: the almost 25-year-old from Imer won the 15 km mass start in Ruhpolding, Germany, on January 19, before taking two third places in Anterselva, in the sprint on January 24 and in the 12.5 km pursuit two days later, also in the South Tyrolean resort.
In addition to his excellent results in the World Cup, Giacomel also boasts a silver medal at the recent World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, thanks to a second-place finish in the 20-kilometer individual race, again behind a Frenchman, Eric Perrot. The Trentino biathlete boasts in his palmarès two other rainbow medals won in 2023 in Oberhof (silver and bronze) and in 2024 in Nove Mesto.
