A movie life told in a movie. Carlo Recalcati, for all “Charly”, will be 80 years old next September 11, and the gift that the basketball world has prepared to celebrate one of its most important legends – Twice on the podium, at the European Championships and the Olympics, with the ’Italbasket; three times champion d’Italy on the benches of Varese, with the Star, and of Fortitudo Bologna and Mens Sana Siena, first title for both – è a docu-film that recounts his very long career and his enveloping humanità which allowed him to be loved in so many citiesà and by so many players who passed through his coaching hands. It will be more of a film than a documentary in the intentions of the production, starting with author Alessandro Nava with director Fabio Villoresi, assistant director Luigi Scarpa and screenwriter Nicola Montese working to tell “Per Tutti Charly” through the narration of the protagonist and interviews with a long series of characters who accompanied him on his very long journey, which started in the late ‘50s from the courts of the Pavoniano institute in Milan, and led him to become an icon of tricolor basketball, first as a Cantù and National team player, and then as a club and Italbasket coach.
Filming of the work is scheduled to begin next June with the inaugural screening starting in September 2025, presenting the initiative to media and TV and with traveling events – starting in the cities in which Recalcati has made his mark – including cinemas, theaters and sports arenas, as well as participation in film competitions and film festivals in the 2025/26 season. Inaugural events are also being planned, with the trailer presentation, a prèmiere in Cantù and for Charly’s special friends and fans, participation in the filming of the movie with some “clapperboards” and “cameos”. There will be no shortage of collateral charity activities donated to local charities throughout the promotional phase. The film, produced by We for You Events&Communication and sponsored by the main basketball institutions and companies related to Recalcati’s career, will make use of a production collaboration and logistical support in Milan with Rosario Magro of FLU agency, Luigi Balduini and by local TV stations E’ Tv, Rete 55, Progetto Touring.
