Speed skating, Team Pursuit: Italy confirmed on world podium, but drops one step

Bell'silver for Italy in Team Pursuit
Italy doesn't succeed in its rainbow encore, but an excellent silver medal nonetheless arrives: è that was the outcome of the Team Pursuit medal event staged in Hamar, Norway, site of the 2025 World Championships in single-distance speed skating on the long track. Davide Ghiotto, Michele Malfatti and Andrea Giovannini managed to take second place overall, behind only the American team.
Casey Dawson, Emery Lehman and Ethan Cepuran completed the event in 3'39"24 (new track record), while the three Azzurri stopped the clock on 3'41"17. Rounding out the podium was the Dutch trio of Chris Huizinga, Beau Snellink and Marcel Bosker, who finished their race in 3'41"91.
For the three representatives of the Tricolor è however, a great satisfaction, despite the fact that they were unable to replicate the success of twelve months ago in Calgary, Canada, when the same three skaters beat Norwegians Sander Eitrem, Peder Kongshaug and Sverre Lunde Pedersen, with Canadians Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu, Connor Howe and Hayden Mayeur taking bronze instead.
Returning to this year's review, medals were also awarded in the women's Team Pursuit: winning è was the Netherlands (Joy Beune, Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong and Marijke Groenewoud) with a time of 2'56"09 (again a track record), ahead of Japan (Miho Takagi, Ayano Sato and Momoka Horikawa) with 2'58"55 and Canada (Ivanie Blondin, Valerie Maltais and Isabelle Weidemann) with 3'00"74.
