Lorenzo Musetti doesn’t stop: he’s in the semifinals in Madrid

Lorenzo Musetti, who is already sure to enter the top ten in the world for the first time next Monday and is currently number 11, continues his great season on clay: after the final in Monte Carlo he lands in the semifinals of the Madrid Masters 1000 by beating Canadian Gabriel Diallo, number 78, with the score of 6-4 6-4.
In the first set the first to break, after there was not a single beak ball in the first five games, was Diallo, who, however, here suffered six consecutive games from Musetti. In fact, the 23-year-old from Carrara went from 2-4 to 6-4 2-0 in his favor but to win the last game of the first set he had to save twofour counterbreak balls, two of which were consecutive, and pocketed it on the second set point.
Lorenzo as mentioned also goes 2-0 in the second set making the third consecutive break in the first game. Musetti does not concede anything more to the North American and indeed on 5-3 makes another break that also makes him take home the match after just under an hour and a half of play. In the semifinals Lorenzo will meet Britain’s Jack Draper, world number 6 and today’s executioner of Matteo Arnaldi.
