Javier Zanetti, vice-president of Inter, granted an interview to the microphones of Radio la Red, starting with the feat with Barcelona in the Champions League semifinal: “I am proud of the team’s performance, in both games they showed commitment and overcame difficulties. They met two teams with well-defined styles of play. Defensively, we both had difficulties because there are different players in attack: Lautaro and Thuram on one side and Yamal and Pedri on the’other side. Inter managed to control the game from 4-3 onwards”.

In the final the Nerazzurri will find PSG, which eliminated Arsenal in the’other semifinal: “I think it&#8220s a fifty-fifty match. The French club also deservedly made it to the final. It&#8217s a final, we have to play for it and hopefully continue to have the level that was seen in these two semifinals”.

He then had some honeyed words for coach Simone Inzaghi: “He is the absolute leader of this team, he has been with us for 4 years and has made everyone very competitive. In 3 years we have reached two Champions League finals”.

Closing on Lautaro Martinez: “I hoped he would become what he is today. In the match with Barcelona he gave everything until he was replaced. He is important for Inter and the national team. He always does his best. Ballon d’Or? There is no doubt that he has the chances to win it. He is happy, he feels recognized and important. He has a sense of belonging. When you feel comfortable, that helps you a lot”.
