L'Women’s Italvolley starts off on the right foot: Germany beaten in friendly match

Just a few months after the historic triumph at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the’Italvolley women is starting the new season on the right foot. Julio Velasco’s national team, in fact, despite the’absence of most of the starters, bent Germany 3-1 in the first test match in preparation for Volleyball Nations League 2025.
In the first set, the Azzurri put the arrow right from the opening bars reaching +5 on 15-10. Germany, for its part, tried to fight back, but the Olympic gold medal winners were good at managing the lead until the final 25-18.
In the second set, it is the German national team that gets off to a better start, putting their heads forward. Velasco’s girls manage to stay in touch, but in the closing stages Germany manages to place the decisive spurt and bring the score back to a tie.
The German national team was able to take the lead.
The third set also starts well for the national team coached by Giulio Bregoli. The joy, however, was short-lived, as Frosini and her teammates first regained parity at 5-5, then put the arrow staying ahead in the score until the final 25-17.
The fourth set was a great success.
The fourth set is a photocopy of the third, as Germany starts off well in the opening bars, then at a distance it is the Azzurri who come out and close the score 25-21.
Best scorer for Italy was Omoruyi with 16 points, followed by Giovannini and Frosini with 14 and 11 respectively.
In the ranks of Germany, however, Weitzel’s 17 points were not enough.
