Palermo, Joel Pohjanpalo player of the month in Serie B

Palermo striker Joel Pohjanpalo has been voted the best footballer of the month in April in Serie B. The Finnish bomber, voted for by journalists from DAZN, the league’s official broadcaster, Stats Perform and Luca Leoni, founder of the “Espresso Cadetto” podcast, won his fifth award in the past three seasons, making him the most capped footballer since the MVP trophy was established.
Pohjanpalo will receive the award conceived by BKT, title sponsor of the competition and officially recognized by the Lega B, at the Palermo-Frosinone match, valid for the 38th day of championship, during the pre-match ceremonial.
Opta data for the month of April says the Rosanero forward has taken part in five Serie BKT goals (four goals and one assist), at least two more than any other player in this partial in the tournament. Pohjanpalo is also the player who has scored the most in April in Serie B: four goals – followed at three by Armand Laurienté and Manuel De Luca. Only Domenico Berardi (17) and Francesco Galuppini (15) took part in more shots than Finnish among B’s forwards (13, the result of 10 conclusions and three chances created for teammates – at 13 also Manuel De Luca, Leonardo Mancuso and Pietro Iemmello). Finally, no player has played more balls in the opponent’s box (19 as Francesco Pio Esposito) and attempted more conclusions from inside the penalty area (10 as Leonardo Mancuso) than the Rosanero striker.
After arriving in Venice and leading the lagooners from B to A in goals, Pohjanpalo moved to Palermo last January. With his 9 goals and 3 assists in just 12 appearances, he is proving to be a key pivot in the Sicilian chessboard ahead of the final ride to the playoffs.
The Palermo striker has been a key player in the Sicilian team.
