A very surprising piece of news, especially for those who love boxing. Pacquiao has decided to return to the ring. Retired in’August 2021 (defeat, by unanimous decision, against Ugas for the WBA title), the Filipino outfielder is ready to put the gloves back on.

He will step into the ring next July 19 in Las Vegas to face Mario Barrios. At stake is the WBC lost welterweight title. For Pacquiao, 46, it&#8217s a chance to prove he can still fight at the highest level, despite the four years he has spent doing other things (he has turned to politics in his native country).

It was WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman who confirmed, to Boxing King Media, the match: “At the moment, Mario Barrios will face Manny Pacquiao in July. What a tremendous bout”, his words.

.

Considered one of the best boxers in his category of all time, Pacquiao, the first and only World Champion in eight categories, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in June and, as if that were not enough, he is also running for a seat in the Philippine Senate. Now he will have to find time to properly prepare for his return to the ring. Mario Barrios, his opponent, is a very high-profile opponent (29-2-1, 18 KOs).
