Carlo Calcagni prepares a climb for peace and a tribute to duty

Carlo Calcagni prepares a climb for peace and a tribute to duty “On Saturday – he tells – I will face the long and challenging climb of the Monte Grappa Bike Day. Starting from the center of Bassano del Grappa: 27 km that will take me, with my tricycle, up to Cima Grappa, 1,850 meters above sea level. The fatigue will be a lot, but each pedaling will have a deep meaning.”

“I will bring with me a laurel wreath ’adds the Colonel of the Role of Honor of the Italian Army.”

“It is not only a symbol of respect and remembrance towards the fallen of the Great War, but for me it represents all the fallen of every place and time. It also represents all those who, like me, suffered permanent damage in the performance of duty, serving their country with honor and sacrifice. During the ascent, two flags will fly together: a white flag, a universal symbol of peace, and that of my Team Calcagni “Never Surrender” which also proudly carries the Italian tricolor.

“On a day when, all over Italy, white cloths will be raised for peace in Palestine, I will carry these symbols up there, where silence still speaks of war, but where toil can turn into a testimony of hope. Peace, memory and dignity are won step by step, climb by climb. And on Saturday, I will take them to the top,” the conclusion of Testimonial Monte Grappa Bike Day 2025.
