Ducati’s centaur Pecco Bagnaia has intervened with a heavy hand on Jorge Martin commenting on the Aprilia case. The Spanish rider has communicated his’intention to leave the Noale-based team at the end of the year, even though the contract is a two-year one: the Italian team’s response was drastic, and the two-time MotoGP world champion also wanted to have his say on the matter.

“When you have a contract, you have to respect it. You cannot cancel it, in my opinion. If you sign something, you have to respect it. It could be a problem if someone starts creating this kind of chaos” said Bagnaia at a press conference. According to the Ducatista, it is up to Martin “to do his best to try to solve the problem”.

After the jab at his former rival, Bagnaia made a more general point: “We live in a time when there is a lot of speculation on social media and that is a big problem, I think. It is also difficult to understand what is true and what is false”.

This is the Aprilia statement: “Aprilia Racing denies the’existence of negotiations between the parties for the modification of the duration of the contract, which remains as originally agreed and does not comment on issues that do not concern it directly, but expects other teams not to make offers of any kind to riders who are under contract: such behavior would be, moreover, illegitimate . The entire team will support Jorge in his physical recovery, as it always has, and looks forward to his return to the track with the RS-GP”.
