Roland Garros qualifiers: Zeppieri to main draw, out Arnaboldi

The tennis Italian men’s final day of qualifying at Roland Garros is half-sorry. Giulio Zeppieri qualified for the main draw thanks to a victory over Federico Agustin Gomez, while Federico Arnaboldi was eliminated by Maximilian Marterer.
Zeppieri beat the Argentine, world number 142, with a clean 6-1 6-4 after just one hour of play.
After a one-sided first set, the Roman only needed a surgical break in the eighth game of the second partial to close out the file in two sets.
Arnaboldi, on the other hand, had to surrender to the German, number 237 in the ATP rankings, who prevailed with a final score of 6-4 6-1 after one hour and twenty games. The Lombard struggled in the first set, decided by a single break, before succumbing in the second partial.
Zeppieri thus joins Matteo Gigante, who had earned access to the main draw of the Paris Slam on Thursday thanks to a two-set success over Norway’s Elmer Moller (6-3 7-6).
