Giro d'Italia, Carapaz despairs: "L'lost Del Toro"
The Giro d’Italia seemed to be a matter between Richard Carapaz and Isaac Del Toro, but Simon Yates surprised everyone with the incredible attack from afar on the Colle delle Finestre, overturning and winning the pink race on the penultimate stage.
At the finish Carapaz, completely displaced by Yates’s initiative, expressed all his disappointment and anger at the final mockery in an interview with Eurosport. The Ecuadorian sought an understanding with Del Toro to go after Yates again, but the pink jersey hesitated: “Del Toro lost the Giro, he didn”t know how to ride the right way”, is his accusation upon arrival.
“We could have been the strongest, but the smartest rider won instead. Yates and his team did what needed to be done. We did not”.
