Roland Garros, another roar from Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini: it’s semifinals

Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini brilliantly clinched a place in the semifinals of the women’s doubles tournament at Roland Garros 2025: the Italian pair got the better of their quarterfinal opponents, Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens, with relative ease, closing the file in 69 minutes of play: 6-2, 6-3 was the final score.
In fact, the match had no history, and the Russian-Belgian pair was never ahead throughout the entire match.
Errani and Paolini immediately set the record straight in the first set, immediately winning a double break lead that proved decisive, and even in the second set they never trembled, taking the lead from 3-2 onwards.
The adventure of the Olympic champions of the discipline, who in Paris won precisely the most precious medal of the Five Circles tournament but also lost a final, precisely at Roland Garros, also in 2024, continues. Of the two opponents in that final, still running on the other side of the scoreboard is Katerina Siniakova, paired with Taylor Townsend. By contrast, there is no Coco Gauff, who participated only in the singles tournament.
Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini have won seven tournaments together so far, triumphing not only in last year’s Olympic tournament but also twice in Rome (2024 and 2025), Monastir (2023), Linz, Beijing (both in 2024) and Doha (2025). The world doubles ranking has them both ranked sixth, at’last updated on Monday, June 2.
