Johnny Herbert at RoobetAltenatives had his say on what happened in Barcelona in the’incident involving Max Verstappen that caused so much discussion on social media.

“The black flag is a measure that could have been considered by the stewards and the race director: we need to put an end to this kind of aggressive driving, anyone can crash into another car, but it is absolutely wrong to intentionally bump into another driver”.

“It has happened in the past, with Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, with Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill, and even with Jacques Villeneuve. In the 1997 accident, Schumacher was disqualified. I like to think I was a tough but fair driver, and so is Verstappen, but that collision crossed the line”.

“And something I don&#8217t want to see and neither do the other drivers. These are things that have no citizenship in F1 and should be punished severely to make sure they don&#8217t happen again. The 10-second penalty is insufficient because it puts this maneuver on the same level as other race incidents”.
