Roland Garros: Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori are in the mixed doubles final

The Italian dream at Roland Garros 2025 continues, and this time it is not the usual Jannik Sinner or Lorenzo Musetti, protagonists in the men’s singles, but also Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, who won with great authority the final of the mixed doubles.
The Italian pair overcame in the semifinals the experienced duo formed by China’s Shuai Zhang and Salvador’s Marcelo Arevalo with a clear 6-2 6-3, ending the match in just 59 minutes. A convincing performance, made of solidity, perfect understanding and aggressive tennis that put two very experienced players on the ropes in the doubles circuit. Errani and Vavassori showed from the start the will to command the game, bringing home the crucial points and proving once again that they are one of the most fearsome pairs on the international scene.
For Italy, this final has a special flavor: a title in mixed doubles at Roland Garros has been missing since as far back as 1958, when Nicola Pietrangeli triumphed together with Britain’s Shirley Bloomer. A 67-year wait that Sara and Andrea will try to break by facing the winner of the semifinal between Krawczyk/Skupski and Townsend/King in the final.
For Errani and Vavassori it would be their third title together, following triumphs at the 2024 US Open and the Indian Wells Masters 1000 in 2025. It is a steadily growing path for a pair that combines the experience and grit of the former Roland Garros finalist (2012 singles) with the talent and freshness of the Turin-based Vavassori, who is increasingly a protagonist on the doubles circuit along with compatriot Bolelli.
