Roland Garros: Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori triumph in Paris

Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori drop an encore. After their success in mixed doubles at the 2024 Us Open, the Azzurri repeated at Roland Garros. In the final, the Italian pair, the third seed in the draw, decisively defeated the U.S. duo, number four in the seeding, formed by Taylor Townsend and Evan King.

6-4 6-2 the final score accrued in favor of Errani/Vavassori after one’hour and eleven minutes of play. In the first set, it was a single break that made the difference, scratched by the Azzurri in the fateful seventh game (4-3) and protected until the final 6-4.

The first set was a one-set match.

Second partial immediately downhill for the Azzurri, who get the break in the opening game and confirm it on serve (2-0). In the seventh game Errani/Vavassori again took the break from the Americans, before closing on serve (6-2).

Thanks to this success Errani and Vavassori thus win their second Slam title in history in mixed doubles. The Romagnola is also still engaged in the women’s doubles with Jasmine Paolini where they will take on Russia’s Andreeva/Shnaider in the semifinals.
