The third act of the NHL Stanley Cup was played overnight. In front of their home crowd, Florida came out on top with a narrow 6-1 victory over Edmonton. A victory that allowed the Panthers to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

“I would say we played like the real Florida. They were fantastic this time”, the words of Oilers goalie Skinner, reported by ESPN. Skinner was replaced after conceding five goals on 23 shots.

Edmonton never had the strength to contain Florida, which dominated far and wide, putting a major dent in the Oilers’ ambitions. “We are a very solid team. One of our strengths is the depth of the group, from the’offense to the defense to the goalie” statements from Marchand who, at 37, became the oldest player ever to score in the first three games of a finals series.

Also of note is Bennett, who has now reached 14 goals overall (the all-time leader in the playoffs’ scorers’ list). Game 4 is scheduled on the Italian night between Thursday and Friday, again at the home of the Panthers, who aim to take a 3-1 lead and thus move closer to the back-to-back (they won last year just against Edmonton).
