Real Madrid: official arrival of Mastantuono for more than 60 million

Real Madrid continues to move decisively in the market. After the various arrivals of Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Blancos are securing one of the most promising talents in world football. In an official statement, the Spanish club announced the’purchase of Franco Mastantuono from River Plate. A deal that automatically becomes the most expensive ever for a player from the Argentine league.
The transfer, which will officially go into effect on August 14, 2025, includes a six-year contract that will tie Mastantuono to the Blancos until June 30, 2031. The deal, in total, will cost Real Madrid a whopping 63.2 million euros, a figure that includes the 45 million rescission clause and an additional 18.2 million in bonuses and taxes. A heavy investment that confirms the willingness of Florentino PĂ©rez’s club to continue to focus on youth to build the future.
Born in 2007, Mastantuono has already written important pages in River Plate’s recent history. After training in the Argentine club’s youth sector since 2019, he was promoted to the first team in the 2024-2025 season. In February 2024, he became the youngest scorer in River’s history and won the Argentine Super Cup shortly thereafter. But his precocious talent was not limited to club soccer: at only 17 years old, he also became the youngest player to make his debut in the history of the Argentine national team.
Before moving to Madrid, Mastantuono would still have the opportunity to wear the River jersey in a prestigious competition: the FIFA Club World Cup. Included in the group with Inter, Monterrey and Urawa Red Diamonds, the young Argentine talent will take on Cristian Chivu’s team next June 26. With River Plate, Mastantuono has so far collected 61 appearances, 10 goals and 7 assists, numbers that testify to his early impact in professional soccer.
