There are not only Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori to represent Italian tennis in the men’s doubles tournament at Wimbledon: in fact, Mattia Bellucci is also among the protagonists of the competition, playing as a partner with Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan. The two will be engaged, in the second round, against French Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Australian Jordan Thompson.

The match between the two pairs is scheduled, as scheduled, at 3 p.m. Italian time on Saturday, July 5. However, the time may change because on the same court, No. 7, two other matches will be played first, the one between Goransson/Chan and Arevalo/Zhang, valid for the first round of mixed doubles, and the one between Jeline Vandromme and Neus Torner Sensano, one of the opening matches of the women’s junior tournament.

The two matches will be played on the same court, No. 7.

Bellucci is no stranger to facing a doubles tournament, but he is still looking for his first success on the major circuit. At the ATP Challenger level, he won the Hamburg tournament in 2024 paired with Remy Bertola of Switzerland, while previously, between 2021 and 2022, he won four ITF World Tour tournaments in Monasteer with Ajeet Rai, Selva di Val Gardena with Luca Potenza, and Sharm El Sheikh and Monastir again, this time with Federico Iannaccone.

They are all new to the ATP Challenger level.

For the 24-year-old from Castellanza, the doubles match is an important opportunity to continue his adventure on London&#8217s grass after dropping out of the singles match draw: In fact, Bellucci defeated Oliver Crawford 6-7(2), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round and Jiri Lehecka 7-6(4), 6-1, 7-5 in the second, but surrendered to Cameron Norrie, who was victorious 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 16.
