Tuesday was not a day of total rest for Jannik Sinner: after the MRI performed in the morning and the outdoor training session cancelled at the last second, comes the news from Darren Cahill that displaces everyone: the South Tyrolean did a short training session, to test the elbow injured Monday night against Dimitrov, but he did it indoors.

“We went to the indoor courts and simply threw balls at him for 20-30 minutes, to check if everything was okay – the Australian supercoach said in an ’interview with ‘ESPN’ confirming that the world No. 1 decided to move the short workout away from the cameras -. He is fine, it is good that he trained: it is impossible for him to take a day off”.

Initially, a training session on Field No. 1 at Aorangi Park had been announced for 5 p.m. Italian time on Tuesday.

Sinner, however, did not show up, and the many journalists present, beyond the news of his absence, had been given no further explanation. Cahill therefore solved the mystery: another location was chosen to test the Blue’s physical condition.

Jannik Sinner will meet Ben Shelton, Lorenzo Sonego&#8217s executioner in the quarterfinals, on Wednesday afternoon: for the South Tyrolean an important opportunity to equal his best Wimbledon result, reaching the semifinals in the 2023 edition. Last year the South Tyrolean stopped in the quarters, beaten in five sets by Daniil Medvedev, who was surprisingly eliminated this year in the first round by Benjamin Bonzi.
