Jannik Sinner’s show of strength against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 tournament.

The current world No. 1 got rid of the resistance of the Canadian, No. 28 in the ATP rankings, without much effort, finishing 6-0, 6-2 in 71 minutes. Sinner thus clinched a place in the semifinals, against an opponent he had never beaten in the previous two head-to-head matches before today.

It took only 27 minutes for Sinner to close out the first set, without giving up a single game to his opponent of the day on the hot day in the Ohio city.

Only the last game saw Auger-Aliassime try to fight back, so much so that the South Tyrolean was denied three set points before the decisive point with which the first game ended.

Decidedly different was the start of the second set, with Sinner forced to chase as Auger-Aliassime immediately won a break advantage: on 0-2, however, came the vehement reaction of the ATP No. 1, who won all the subsequent games, comfortably completing the march to the final success and taking the applause of the U.S. audience.

Jannik Sinner thus conquers yet another success on a surface on which he is increasingly playing a leading role: in fact, Thursday’s is success number 25 in a row on cement. Overall, however, it is the’eleventh win in a row, including his success in the Wimbledon round of 16 against Dimitrov, who was forced to retire while leading by two sets.
