“He will take on a testing and development role within the team&#8217s Formula 1 structure,” McLaren announced. Also enlisted with him are 24-year-old Dutchman Richard Verschoor, winner of the prestigious F3 Macau Grand Prix, and 15-year-old Spaniard Christian Costoya, winner of the World Karting Championship.

“I am incredibly proud to join the McLaren Driver Development Program after another successful year on the track – commented Fornaroli. “Winning both the Formula 3 and Formula 2 titles was an important step in my journey, and I am motivated to take the next step in my development through the program as I work toward my ultimate goal: racing at the highest level”.

Fornaroli, who will turn 21 tomorrow, was born in Piacenza and became king of Formula 2 with the Invicta Racing team, winning four races and finishing second four times and third once. Last year in Formula 3, on the other hand, he won the title incredibly without winning a race but finishing second twice and third five times.
