Carlos Alcaraz does not retrace his steps: the Murcian is peremptory

Not too long ago Carlos Alcaraz’s coach, Samu Lopez, had hinted that there might be room in the future for a return of Juan Carlos Ferrero to the Murcian champion’s team. This hypothesis, however, seems to have already gone away.
In the official ATP podcast, in fact, Alcaraz explained that his approach to matches has improved precisely because of a change in rules and internal dynamics compared to the Ferrero era, hinting that the current technical set-up better meets his needs.
“Now I have a different role,” explained Alcaraz. “I can express my needs, make decisions and manage the moments when it is better to stop or push in training. The change is mainly mental: in the past, pressure and nervousness conditioned me. Today I deal with everything more calmly, simply trying to have fun on the court.”
Wrestling with a wrist injury, because of which he preferred to avoid taking part in the Madrid Masters 1000, Alcaraz is not thinking at the moment either of the Internazionali d’Italia or Roland Garros, tournaments he won last year against friend-rival Jannik Sinner: in fact, at the moment, the idea is to recharge his batteries in his Murcia.
“When I go back to my home, the tennis star gives way to the kid I’ve always been,” explained the 2003-born talent, who remained at the No. 2 position in the world after retiring during the Barcelona tournament. “Spending time with my friends in everyday things is my anchor: it’s what brings me back down to earth.”
