Olimpia Milano: Here’s why Jason Burnell would be a "smart" purchase;
Olimpia Milano is focused on the season finale. After winning the Italian Supercup and Coppa Italia, EA7 wants to take home the Scudetto. Currently third in the standings, the red-and-whites, now without Euroleague commitments, aim to shift gears and make a special postseason.
Contestually, there is a need to think about next year as well. Several players from the current roster will pack their bags. From Ellis (going to the NCAA) to Nebo (expiring contract), via many others who, at the moment, prefer to think about the field. In short, important grafts will be needed.
One, in fact, is already known: Hall is ready to return to Milan after his experience at Fenerbahce. Many other names are in play, although there is one player who seems perfect for Coach Poeta’s style of play: Burnell. The Germani Brescia star has already worked with the current Red and White coach. The two have always gotten along very well.
In addition, Burnell is on a contract expiration with Leonessa, is in the prime of his basketball maturity (28 years old) and knows Italian basketball perfectly (he has been playing in Italy since 2019). Above all, he is a true wild card. He can shoot the basket and defend like few others. Currently vying for the title of Sixth Man of the Year in the LBA, the U.S. wing would be a fantastic coup for Olimpia Milano. He would certainly make Coach Poeta happy.
