Attilio Caja’s words divide Fortitudo fans and lead to market speculation

As expected, Attilio Caja’s very recent words have created debate. And not only among the fans of Fortitudo Bologna, from which, at the end of the season, the seasoned coach will most likely part ways. Some remarked that it was not the most opportune time to express themselves on the subject, others said they were sorry for the farewell, others still happy, because they were evidently not satisfied. The Pavia native born in 1961 naturally has a lot of market and a hypothesis is already circulating: that of his return to Pesaro, where he coached more than twenty-five years ago, in case Vuelle is not promoted. A goal that, of course, also has the ‘F’.
After all, Caja himself made no secret of the situation to the microphones of E-Tv: “I am happy with what we are doing, I live it with serenity. I arrived here thanks to President Tedeschi, now there could be a change and so I consider myself in closure. I also know, as reported by agents, that he has already moved for other coaches, deputies and sporting directors, but that’s there because whoever takes over decides how to do it. It doesn’t bother me.” Clear words, those of the Lombard technician, that photograph a situation that is now headed toward separation.
On the field, meanwhile, the season is far from over. Fortitudo Bologna ended the regular season in third place in the standings, with 50 points, tied with VL Pesaro but penalized by unfavorable direct clashes. Crossing the finish line first was Frank Vitucci’s Givova Scafati, with 52 points resulting from 26 wins and 10 losses, thus winning direct promotion to Serie A. Biancorossi and Effe are thus forced into the playoffs.
Twelve teams in total will be in the running for the last available spot for promotion. The path will begin with the Play-In: Livorno and Urania Milano will compete in a dry game, with the winner facing Rimini; on the other side of the table, Juvi Cremona will meet Torino, and whoever passes the round will face Avellino. VL Pesaro, the runner-up, will face the last team from the Play-In in the first round of the playoffs, while the other qualifier will take on Fortitudo Bologna itself. Among the pairings already finalized, Verona will play against Brindisi, while Cividale will face Rieti.
There were no immediate relegations, partly because of the championship remaining incomplete after Bergamo’s demise in February. The fight not to drop down a category will involve four teams (Cento, Ruvo di Puglia, Pistoia and Roseto) that will face each other in the playout.
