Roma, poker for Champions: Fiorentina overwhelmed at'Olimpico

Roma took advantage of the stumbles of the other candidates for positions useful to qualify for the next Champions League by beating with a roundabout 4-0 the ill-fated Fiorentina, never able to make themselves dangerous Monday night at the Olimpico. The Giallorossi thus move into fifth position with three days to go, with just one point to make up on fourth-placed Juventus and three on Milan, third but in a results crisis.
That it was an evening of grace for Gasperini’s men was clear from the first twenty minutes of the game: on 13′ Mancini put his men ahead with a precise header off a corner taken by Pisilli, four minutes later Wesley made it 2-0 with a quick action that saw the ball pass first from Soulé, then from Hermoso and finally from the feet of the Brazilian, who thunderbolted De Gea. At 34′ came the tris as well: this time Hermoso turned into a bomber, turning Manu Koné’s cross into the 3-0 goal when halftime was still more than ten minutes away.
At halftime Vanoli left Pongracic, Harrison and Gudmundsson in the locker room, trying to shake things up with Comuzzo, Braschi and Parisi. The substance did not change, however, and Roma found the fourth goal at 58′: Cristante served Malen in the box, the Dutchman softly supported the ball in favor of Pisilli’s header, which finally closed the score with more than half an hour left in the match.
Gasperini makes his five substitutions all after the poker: at 64′ El Shaarawy takes over from Koné, at 72′ Ghilardi and Dybala take the place of Mancini and Soulé, at 83′ Ziolkowski and Robinio Vaz allow Hermoso and Malen to draw breath. At the other end there are Fazzini and Fabbian for Fagioli and Brescianini at 75′, but nothing else. Roma wins 4-0 and rises to 64, Fiorentina remains at 37 and cannot say they are definitely saved: in fact, at least one more point is needed to eliminate any risk.
