Romelu Lukaku, new twist on the horizon: agent speaks out

First the tug-of-war with the club, then the words of a bitter Antonio Conte, finally the return to base. Romalu Lukaku’s 2025-2026 season is drawing to a close with more question marks than certainties, starting with doubts about the chances of seeing the Belgian bomber back on the pitch in Napoli’s last league games and then continuing with a future that could still speak Italian, given reports of an interest from AC Milan in the 33-year-old’s upcoming (he will turn 33 on May 13).
On the sidelines of Lukaku’s individual training session at Castel Volturno, agent Federico Pastorello spoke about the player’s immediate prospects in an intervention to the Belgian version of ‘Dazn’: “As expected, Romelu is back in Naples, he started training again at the sports center individually, waiting to be able to make it into the team he said.”
Pastorello also spoke about Antonio Conte’s statements a few days ago, in which the Salento coach said he was disappointed that Lukaku had not sought a meeting with him before leaving for Belgium. “They are two people who live soccer in a passionate way,” Pastorello said. “That occasion was not right to meet, now they will be able to do so. However, the coach will decide how to manage Lukaku in these last matches.”
Beyond that, Lukaku’s future from June onward appears marked: his adventure at Napoli now seems to be at the end of the line. The hypothesis of a transfer to AC Milan remains for now more a hope of the player than a concrete negotiation, with the Rossoneri also evaluating other profiles to reinforce the attack.
Napoli, for its part, is already working on the construction of the offensive department for next season: one of the names ended up on the notebook of sporting director Giovanni Manna is that of Sebastiano Esposito, protagonist of a growing season at Cagliari. The 2002-class striker, currently on loan to the Rossoblù from Inter, intrigues the Neapolitan club because of his value for money, age and tactical adaptability.
